Pocket Placemats: 1st Edition

Add sophisticated style to your holiday table with these stunning placemats. The entire placemat, including the borders, is stitched in the hoop and then assembled on the sewing machine. The pocket is perfect for a feature design or a monogram, which makes these designs truly seasonless. 

The pocket placemats are created in four easy steps.  Each step focuses on one of the components of the pocket placemat.  After the components are stitched, the placemat is assembled at the sewing machine.  The steps are:

•  Step 1: Pocket background and pocket: When stitching the pocket for the placemat, the pocket background design is added to the embroidery machine first, and the featured pocket design is layered on top, creating a custom design. 
• Step 2: Pocket base: The pocket base design includes a step to attach the pocket in the hoop.
• Step 3: Placemat center background block: Based on hoop size, either one or two background blocks are stitched.
• Step 4: Outer borders: Stitch one side and two top and bottom border blocks.  Each block is then cut in half along the stitched cut lines for a total of six border units.

Finished placemat sizes:  

• 10”x16” and 8” x12” hoops: 20”x14”
• 9”x14” hoops: 19”x 14”
